The Shanghai Cricket Club has a proud tradition of competing both against international clubs and in tournaments in Shanghai and overseas.
Recent highlights include playing at India¡¯s first Test Match ground, Bombay Gymkhana, re-establishing the Hong Kong - Shanghai Inter-Port series, and winning 4 of the past 6 Shanghai International Sixes competitions.
Our ability to compete with these teams and in such tournaments is borne from a strong local competition and a commitment to selecting the strongest possible team.? Shanghai CC now has a Selection Committee for all Dragons representative matches, comprised of:
David Boyle - Head of Coaching and Development
Jason Bird - Competitions Committee Chairman
Mike Tsesmelis - Club Captain
The Committee has met and established the following parameters for selection:
- Players will be selected based on their cricketing ability in the format of the game/tournament in question.? This will be derived from statistical information and the judgment of the selection committee.
- The form of players leading into the tournament will influence the selection committee.
- A player¡¯s participation at all levels of cricket during the season will be an influencing factor in the selection process.
- A player¡¯s history of participation in cricket in Shanghai will be considered.
Each of these selection criteria are to be viewed in descending order. Hence, the initial criteria are seen as more crucial factors in the final selection process.
